August 17th, 2013:
International Take A Hike Day

Introduction

When people love nature they are much more willing to protect nature. But as habitats get destroyed and technology consumes more of our time, the disconnect between people and nature grows. In the 21st century, making sure we spend time outdoors is more important than ever...plus hiking is enjoyable and healthy! So please mark your calendar for the 1st Annual International Take A Hike Day! All you have to do to take part is go for a hike or spend some time in the great outdoors. You'll reconnect with your roots and remember what is at stake if we don't act quickly to protect nature and wildlife. We encourage all hiking and wildlife groups to arrange hikes on August 17th and spread the word about the International Take A Hike Day. Don't worry if you don't have a local group, just go for a hike by yourself or with some friends and family.

Please register here if you will be hiking on the International Take A Hike Day! It's quick and helps us track participation. Only one person per group should register. Thanks!
