SAVE THE FROGS! receives congressional support

I had the pleasure of meeting my US Congressman Sam Farr last week at the Watsonville Wetlands Watch 20th anniversary celebration. Congressman Farr has sponsored animal rights bills and works to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge -- and he looks great in a SAVE THE FROGS! organic cotton t-shirt! I look forward to meeting with Congressman Farr in the near future to discuss ways that Congress can help promote amphibian conservation. Last month Congressman Keith Ellison from Minnesota sent this letter to the US EPA on behalf of our campaign to ban Atrazine. Do you know any politicians? If so, please educate them about frog extinctions!

I saved 45 Northern Leopard Frogs from the scalpel

A teacher who heard my presentation at last week's dissections workshop was inspired to switch to virtual dissection software. Can you imagine if all the schools in the USA stopped dissecting frogs? That would probably save the lives of 450,000 Northern Leopard Frogs. Can you imagine saving 450,000 frogs? I can. I envision a USA where NO public schools dissect frogs. We've gotten 18 schools to stop their animal dissection programs, but we have a long, long way to go to send this outdated practice to the annals of history alongside human slavery and many of the other ridiculous, unethical, unfair practices that our society once widely accepted as normal. If we want to save hundreds of thousands of frogs from the scalpel, we need to all start contacting our local teachers and school boards and explaining to them that frogs are disappearing and students should not be forced to be unwitting accomplices to the extinction of amphibians. Please download and post the PDF of the flyer below, and find out how your school can get free virtual dissection software in exchange for giving up animal dissections, at:

NASA calls on SAVE THE FROGS!

Has NASA ever called your house looking for you? Well it happened to me a couple weeks ago -- and not because of all those UFO sightings I report. They wanted me to come to the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. On Tuesday, I had the honor to run a SAVE THE FROGS! informational table there, and I encouraged federal employees to contribute to SAVE THE FROGS! through the Combined Federal Campaign (we are CFC# 77557).

Sacramento Reptile Show was a great success

Thank you to everyone who came by the SAVE THE FROGS! booth at the Sacramento Reptile Show! We all had a great time meeting our long time supporters, as well as new fans of our efforts to protect amphibians from extinction. Special thanks to the organizers of the show, Angel and Jeremy Epstein, for making such a concerted effort to promote education and responsible pet ownership. Thanks to GBU Enterprises for letting us show off some of their wonderful amphibians during our presentations. Thanks to the Central Valley Herpetological Society for their continued support. Lastly, we want to thank all the new members that came by and signed up! Thank you all for your support of SAVE THE FROGS!

Stock donations help save you taxes

Donating publicly traded stock that has increased in value and that you have owned for more than one year may provide you with greater tax benefits than giving cash. Your broker can assist you in making a gift of stock via a direct transfer to SAVE THE FROGS!. Your charitable income tax deduction is equal to the fair market value of the stock and you avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the current value over the original cost of the stock. You may also save by not incurring brokerage fees, as you are transferring ownership rather than selling the stock. Please contact us is you would like to learn more!

Save The Frogs Gift Center

Frogs are the most threatened group of animals on the planet: nearly 2,000 of the world's amphibian species are threatened with extinction and at least 150 species have entirely disappeared since 1979. SAVE THE FROGS! is America's first and only public charity dedicated exclusively to amphibian conservation. Your generous financial support makes our work possible!
