11 ways your donation today will help save frogs

Dear [[First_Name]],

We are still $6,745 short of our $10,000 fundraising goal, and we only have 15 days left to raise these funds! I hope you can help by placing the largest tax-deductible donation you can afford.

Please donate today and help us reach our $10,000 goal!!!

Your donation makes our efforts possible! This is why we need to raise this money ASAP:
-- We are organizing 300 Save The Frogs Day events in 2014;
-- We are working to ban the importation of bullfrogs throughout the entire state of California; I was advised we would need $30,000 for this campaign alone, but we will succeed on a fraction of that!);
-- We are working to get dissections out of all USA public schools;
-- We are training the students at our five chapters in Ghana;
-- We are creating educational videos like the one you can find below;
-- We are converting the savethefrogs.com website to more modern technology;
-- We are opening a SAVE THE FROGS! Education Center in Berkeley, California
-- We are giving nearly 100 live presentations on frog conservation annually.
-- We are meeting with politicians and gathering public support to ban Atrazine; protect the Mountain Yellow-Legged Frogs; protect Tesla Park's amphibians from off-road vehicles and protect Sharp Park's amphibians from having their wetlands' drained;
-- We are building our volunteer force in Colombia, Mexico and Bangladesh, but we cannot expand our worldwide efforts if we cannot raise this $10,000! I just sent $2,500 to our team at SAVE THE FROGS! Ghana and I am about to send $1,200 to our team in Colombia. I need your help to make sure
-- We have lots of other programs you can read about on www.savethefrogs.com!

Thanks for donating at either www.savethefrogs.com/donate or www.savethefrogs.com/10000

Please donate today and help us reach our $10,000 goal!!!

Brand new SAVE THE FROGS! video all about chytrid fungus

Thanks to the 98 students who attended our SAVE THE FROGS! Academy class on the chytrid fungus. We added the video to the SAVE THE FROGS! YouTube Channel and over 275 people have watched it. We hope it educates thousands of people about the chytrid fungus in the years to come. In the video I discuss the chytrid fungus (Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis), including my Ph.D. research on chytridiomycosis in Eastern Australia. Susan Jewell of the US Fish & Wildlife Service discusses USFWS efforts, and Jonathan Kolby discusses his research on diseases being imported into the USA.

Thanks to the 3rd graders of Discovery Charter School for raising $350 for SAVE THE FROGS!

A few months ago I gave a Skype presentation on frog conservation to the 3rd Grade students of Discovery Charter School in Rochester, NY. Their teacher Kara Snyder recently sent this note:

"Dr. Kriger, Thank you for all of your love and passion for amphibian conservation. My students felt empowered after your skype session and have been talking about how they can be more conscious of amphibian conservation as well as other environmental issues. SAVE THE FROGS! is a very unique organization. The dedication that you and your staff make to get information out to people inspires others to get involved. I feel like I stumbled on an educational gold mine. Please accept my school's modest donation from the proceeds of our "freaky frog" calendars. They were a labor of love! Regards, Kara"

Say NO to Australia's Cooroy Broiler Farm

Australia: Say NO to the Cooroy Broiler Farm! The proposed Cooroy Broiler Farm is a corporate-owned factory farm that will hold thousands of chickens and it is going to be built on a ridgeline that will directly impact endangered amphibian populations. Run off from the farm will bleed into streams that will pollute the habitat of the endangered Giant Barred Frog (Mixophyes iteratus) and the threatened Cascade Tree Frog (Litoria peronii). Become informed and learn how to help here:

Frog Poetry du Jour

by Michael Vernon, Age 17, Wisconsin, USA
From the 2013 SAVE THE FROGS! Poetry Contest

Bouncing around from here to there.
Leaps and bounds without a care.
With powerful jumps he flies through the air.
My little amphibious friend.

Leaping about from tree to tree.
There he is happy as can be.
However there's something he fails to see.
My little amphibious friend.

The humans, they come hungry and mad.
Killing the frogs it's rather sad.
Can't remember one thing that he did bad.
My little amphibious friend.

There he is not making a sound.
The lifeless little tree frog lying there on the ground.
Was this really the fate he was bound?
My little amphibious friend.

Thank you for being a pro-active frog saver!

Enjoy your weekend!

Save The Frogs Gift Center

Frogs are the most threatened group of animals on the planet: nearly 2,000 of the world's amphibian species are threatened with extinction and at least 150 species have entirely disappeared since 1979. SAVE THE FROGS! is America's first and only public charity dedicated exclusively to amphibian conservation. Your generous financial support makes our work possible!
