Sign the petition to ban the importation of millions of non-native bullfrogs!

Dear SAVE THE FROGS! Supporter,

California annually imports several million non-native American Bullfrogs into the state, primarily for the food and pet trades. The bullfrogs eat native frogs and other wildlife and have extremely high rates of chytridiomycosis, a disease responsible for numerous amphibian extinctions worldwide. Please sign our petition asking California's Governor Jerry Brown to ban the importation of live American Bullfrogs!

We have already collected over 6,000 signatures (4,000 electronic and 2,000 paper) and we have been meeting with many of California's politicians to see that this ban gets enacted as rapidly as possible. Saving the Mountain Yellow-Legged Frogs from non-native fish in our national parks

On behalf of SAVE THE FROGS! and California’s critically endangered Mountain Yellow-Legged Frogs (Rana muscosa), on November 20th, 2013, I submitted this letter to the National Park Service. The letter is part of the Service’s official call for public comment related to its proposal to remove predatory non-native fish from 87 water bodies in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Non-native fish eat Mountain Yellow-Legged Frogs and have been shown to be a proximate cause of the species' drastic population declines. If approved, this will be the largest Mountain Yellow-Legged Frog restoration project ever undertaken.

YOU CAN HELP SAVE THE MOUNTAIN YELLOW-LEGGED FROGS AS WELL: Please visit www.savethefrogs.com/actions to learn about the proposal and to submit YOUR comment to the National Park Service. Thank you and thanks to the 707 SAVE THE FROGS! supporters who sent the NPS letters in 2009 urging them to create this recovery plan! Our efforts do pay off!

Securing critical habitat and endangered species status for California's Yellow-Legged Frogs and Yosemite Toads

On behalf of SAVE THE FROGS! and California’s endangered amphibians, on November 18th, 2013 I submitted this letter to the US Fish & Wildlife Service related to its proposal to provide federal protections to three of California’s threatened amphibian species (Rana sierrae, Rana muscosa and Bufo canorus). Thanks to the hundreds of SAVE THE FROGS! supporters who also submitted comments. You can learn a whole lot about these frogs on our two Yellow-Legged Frog videos at: http://youtube.com/savethefrogs

Frog Walk A Huge Success at Sharp Park

On November 3rd, Wild Equity Institute and SAVE THE FROGS! joined forces to look for California Red-Legged Frogs at Mori Point in Pacifica, CA. Thank you to all the wonderful SAVE THE FROGS! and Wild Equity Institute supporters that came out to the Mori Point Frog Walk! We saw many beautiful California Red-legged Frogs and took a fabulous midday stroll through a gorgeous California coastal wetland. The site is adjacent to the Sharp Park Wetlands, which are drained by the City of San Francisco each year to make dry land for golfers, illegally killing endangered Red-Legged Frogs in the process.
