When is the entry deadline?

All entries are to be either digitally submitted or postmarked no later than 11:59pm U.S. Eastern Time on May 29th, 2010.

Who can enter?

Anybody! We encourage students and teachers to get their writing classes involved on Save The Frogs Day - April 30th, 2010. We encourage amateur and professional writers to take part as well. And the more countries represented the better! Did we mention that it is indeed FREE to enter the contest.

Can I mail in my poetry?

We strongly encourage all contestants to digitally submit their poerty, as this saves our unpaid staff considerable time and effort. Whenever possible, teachers should incorporate typing and computer lessons with the Frog Poetry Contest, or ask the students to have their parents type up the essay and submit it. If this is not possible, you may mail us your essay(s).

When will winners be announced?

We hope to announce the winners by July 2010!

How will winners be announced?

Winners will be announced on this page, and through an official mailing to everybody on the SAVE THE FROGS! mailing list, which you should join now if you haven''s a great way for us to stay in touch with you about important events and news in the world of frogs! To join, just enter your email address into the top of this page's left sidebar (scroll up).

Will I be able to publish my original poem?

We actually WANT you to distribute your essay as widely as possible, as one of the goals of the SAVE THE FROGS! Poetry Contest is to raise awareness of frog extinctions. School newspapers and local newspapers are excellent places to publish your essay. It would be great to include a note that the essay was part of the SAVE THE FROGS! Poetry Contest...and provide a link to

How many entries am I allowed?

Please no more than two poems per contestant.

What other contests does SAVE THE FROGS! have?

Funny you should ask. We also have a Frog Art Contest, Frog Essay Contest, Frog Photo Contest, Frog Video Contest, and a Frog Song Contest.

If you have a video camera or webcam, you should record yourself reciting your Frog Poetry and enter the video into the SAVE THE FROGS! Video Contest.
