Want to help get your school involved?
Please print this flyer and deliver it to your teacher.
A great way to help is to ask your science teacher to look at the SAVE THE FROGS! teacher's webpage. You and your teacher should work together to plan a Save The Frogs Day class where you all can talk about why frogs are going extinct and what the class can do to help reverse this. We will help you with handouts for the class and provide ideas on how the class can participate.
Thanks to Craig Erickson for the beautiful photo of this poison dart frog!
Frog dissections are unethical and unnecessary. Furthermore, they are contributing to the depletion of wild frog populations and the spread of harmful invasive species and infectious diseases. As excellent alternatives exist, SAVE THE FROGS! highly recommends that schools switch to virtual dissection software such as the Digital Frog 2.5. Our goal is to have frog dissections out of every public school in the USA by 2014. That is not a lot of time, considering the huge number of schools that currently dissect. With your help though, we can achieve our goal! Sometimes all it takes is asking your teachers to stop; or you may have to put in more effort, like collecting petition signatures from fellow students or writing letters to your school board. Please download the PDF of this flyer, distribute it and post it at your school. Your hard work will pay off!
Becoming an Official Member of SAVE THE FROGS! is one of the best ways you can support our frog conservation efforts. Plus you'll receive cool froggy gifts and get access to our Members-Only Webinars and Frogging Expeditions. Please join SAVE THE FROGS! here.
We want you to start a SAVE THE FROGS! Chapter at your school or university! Contact your Student Guild, Student Union, or principal and ask them what is required to get an official SAVE THE FROGS! Chapter going. Ask also if they would provide funding. Your school likely has plenty of students interested enough in frogs to get a productive group going. Be sure to contact us if you plan to start a Chapter: we want to know about your group, and we can help you come up with a list of goals. And of course we can list your group right here on this page.
"I wanted to let you know that I love the idea of saving the frogs and I would be delighted if I could participate in the fight to keep these creatures from falling over the brink of extinction."
-- Grace A., Trenton, NJ ; Age 12
Teachers love it when student take initiative. Ask your teacher for permission to give a 3-minute talk on amphibian extinctions to your class. At the start of class, stand up, say a few words about frog extinctions and Save The Frogs, and then say you're passing around a Save The Frogs mailing list sign up sheet and everyone should please put down their email so they can keep up to date on ways they can help save amphibians from extinction. Ask them to write clearly! Then scan the sheets and email them to us, or mail them to us. Here's our address. If you are starting a Save The Frogs Chapter, ask everyone who wants to join to write down their name and contact info.
We have an entire webpage devoted to ways you can help spread the word about the amphibian extinction crisis. Remember that only a small proportion of our public is aware that frogs are disappearing, and that amphibian conservation efforts will not be successful until amphibian declines are common knowledge: think of how long it has taken for any political action on global warming to occur! Politicians rarely act until the public demands action. Our goal is to make the amphibian extinction crisis common knowledge by 2013: help make it happen! Our Spread The Word page offers you a multitude of ways to help educate the public about the largest mass extinction event in 65 million years.
Please tell your friends and teachers about the SAVE THE FROGS! Frog Art Contest and concurrent 1st Annual SAVE THE FROGS! Poetry Contest. There will be cash prizes, and the finest poetry and artwork will be included in the book of Frog Poems & Frog Art that gets published as a result. The book will be distributed worldwide, with all proceeds going to SAVE THE FROGS! amphibian conservation projects. Please post the PDFs of these flyer up around your school.
We've got lots of ideas on how you can get your university involved.
What better way to educate your classmates about frogs than to have one of our Frogs of Australia posters hanging in your science classroom? Talk to your science teacher about getting one. Even better, with some group effort you can probably convince your school board to purchase a poster for every school in your county or state (this makes a good group project)! Remember that proceeds from poster sales go to SAVE THE FROGS! amphibian conservation projects.
Here's what to do: write a paragraph about why frogs are important, and why schools should have the poster up on their science clasroom walls. Send the list to your local school or state school board. Make sure you tell them that the poster is available at the SAVE THE FROGS! webpage http://savethefrogs.com/gifts and that they can get a discount if they buy in bulk.
You could also collect signatures for a petition and send it to your local legislators, convincing them to permanently protect a pond or stream that serves as important frog habitat. Make sure to let your legislator know that it would help not only frogs, but also their environmental record (which is important to voters), and that it would make a good story in the local newspaper. Also, be sure to inform your legislator that SAVE THE FROGS! may be able to certify them "Frog-Friendly" (they can learn more on our Politicians for Frogs page). You can contact your local herpetological society to to see if they know of any frog habitats that are in need of protection.
If every school had a frog pond we would have a lot more frogs! The SAVE THE FROGS! Build A Frog Pond Contest invites schools to build frog ponds on their property and document the project and its successes through video, photos and stories, which will be posted online to educate and inspire others to do the same. With your help we can cover the globe with frog habitat and fill the night air with the soothing sounds of frog calls. Please tell your teachers about the contest!
Where can you find all the free educational frog videos you could ever imagine? That's right: at The Official SAVE THE FROGS! YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/savethefrogs).
Frog Art by Rhenz Luar Mamaradlo, Age 17, Phillipines
Why not make a video that the whole world can see? It makes a good class project, and lots of viewers can watch it and learn about frogs once you post it to YouTube. Once you finish your video, please be sure to send us a link to it...sometimes we post our supporters' videos on The Official SAVE THE FROGS! YouTube Channel.
Write an articles on frog declines for the school or local newspaper. This is a great way to raise awareness. Feel free to paraphrase from this web site. Or if you have film-making skills why not make a short commercial or story and see if your local station will air it? Make sure to mention that people can donate to SAVE THE FROGS! and find other ways to help at www.savethefrogs.com.
Remember that if you or your school does something to help SAVE THE FROGS! we can mention your contribution on our Students for Frogs page!
If so, please see if they can play this 30-second Public Service Announcement. You can right-click and "Save Target As" to save the mp3 file.
If you use Facebook page, please become a fan of SAVE THE FROGS! and then invite your friends. It's a great way for us to stay in touch with you, and it helps us find a lot of new people who wouldn't otherwise end up on this page.
What beter way to make other students aware the amphibian extinction crisis than to put some cool bumper stickers in visible locations?
Check out this webpage to learn about some ordinary students who have done extraordinairy things for the frogs!

Thomas Edison had very little formal education as a child, attending school only for a few months. He went on to register 1,093 successful patents, many of which affect and improve the quality of your life every single day: electric light, motion pictures, and a wide array of telecommunications devices on which this entire SAVE THE FROGS! movement relies. The company Edison founded, General Electric, survives and thrives to this day. You now have far more resources with which to change the world than did Thomas Edison. You now have ALL the resources you need to make a tangible, positive difference. Please make use of them! Saving the frogs and making the world a better place is everybody's responsibility. With your active involvement in SAVE THE FROGS! Academy, we will create a better planet for frogs and humans, and ensure that SAVE THE FROGS! survives and thrives well into the 22nd century. Sign up for some of our classes and we'll see you online soon!

"The vast majority of people tell you what you can't accomplish. Those people should be ignored, for they do not understand the power of dedication."
-- SAVE THE FROGS! Founder Dr. Kerry Kriger
"I thought you might appreciate this, Kerry. My 8 year old was SUSPENDED from school today for getting into a fight on the playground yesterday. Some of the kids found a frog in the grass near the swings, and they were poking at it with a stick. Ben went to protect the frog and warned the other kids away. This of course turned into a "you're not the boss of me" situation, one thing led to another, and Ben was sent home to start his winter break a day early. Luckily the frog is safe..."
