The SAVE THE FROGS! Education Center was located in Berkeley, California during 2014. We had a great time educating San Francisco Bay Area residents about amphibians and environmental protection! While the Education Center is no longer open SAVE THE FROGS! activities continue to take place in the Berkeley and throughout the San Francisco Bay Area!
Until we opened our beautiful new SAVE THE FROGS! Education Center in March 2014, SAVE THE FROGS! had never had our own space where we could educate the public about frogs. Our public presence outside of cyberspace was generally restricted to live presentations at schools and universities, or informational tables at farmers markets and conferences. With the help of our volunteers and donors, we metamorphosed and placed ourselves directly in the public view! The Education Center served as a space to hold educational presentations, classes, workshops and environmental events. Berkeley is a well known, international city with a world-renowned university and a history of environmental activism. We are honored to have contributed to a community that is on the cutting-edge of environmental action.
"Congratulations. May your doors continually open to curious minds and may all that wisdom be shared throughout the world with great success to you and your fellow frog lovers."
-- Deborah Blake Dempsey
"Best of luck with the new center. I am certain it will be a game changer that helps you go even further in your mission".
-- Jessica Kratz, Staten Island, NY
Please enjoy these photos, which document our work transforming an empty space into the world's premier amphibian education center! View upcoming events on our main Events page.
On November 4th, 2014 three groups of 25 elementary school students from Berkley Maynard Academy visited the SAVE THE FROGS! Education Center to learn all about amphibians and ways they can help us protect our amphibious friends.
SAVE THE FROGS! was very happy to host the crew of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society at the SAVE THE FROGS! Education Center on August 9th, 2014. We heard inspiring stories from environmental conservationists who put their life on the line for the environment, battling illegal whalers in the Antarctic seas and around the globe. We also heard about environmentalists currently spending twenty years in prison, including years in solitary confinement for defending the Earth. Let's make sure we all make the most of our freedom and amp up our personal efforts to protect the planet.
On June 21st, SAVE THE FROGS! hosted a birthday party for 1-year old Lia and 30 of her closest friends! Thanks to Lia's friends and families for raising $441 for SAVE THE FROGS!. If you would like to have your frog-themed birthday party at SAVE THE FROGS!, please contact us!

Founder Dr. Kerry Kriger gave two presentations: one on endangered frog species of the world, and one on our very own California Red-Legged Frog and our efforts to protect it.
We celebrated the 6th Annual Save The Frogs Day at the SAVE THE FROGS! Education Center! We had presentations on amphibian conservation; activities for kids; amazing frog art on display; live music and a whole lot of fun. SAVE THE FROGS! Founder Dr. Kerry Kriger and Advisory Committee Chairman Michael Starkey presented and we were joined via a live internet feed by special guest Nurul Islam of SAVE THE FROGS! Bangladesh, who told us about his group's Save The Frogs Day successes. Nurul's team received a $2,680 Save The Frogs Day Award and coordinated 6 six major Save The Frogs Day events across Bangladesh.

We have beautiful signs now, and a couch!
Today we hung art and posters, built cabinets and set out some merchandise on display.
This is grassroots! We saved $2,500 by painting the SAVE THE FROGS! Education Center ourselves. Thanks to volunteer Kitty Jones for helping out!

Just an empty floor and a world of possibilities! The mezzanine area upstairs is our office, otherwise known as SAVE THE FROGS World Headquarters:
This is the view looking out towards the street:
We've moved SAVE THE FROGS! World Headquarters into the upstairs mezzanine area, which overlooks the Education Center. it's all in the same room, making it easy for our staff and volunteers to communicate whether they are in the office or on the floor. Plus, it reduces our commute time and carbon footprint!
One of the reasons we were initially drawn to this location is our awesome neighbors: The Sierra Club, The Ecology Center, Golden Gate Audubon Society and several other nonprofits. We have already spoken at the Sierra Club and we look forward to networking, brainstorming and collaborating with all the wonderful people who work in this complex.
Please help SAVE THE FROGS! raise $50,000 to fund the first year of our brand new SAVE THE FROGS! Education Center! Please donate today to help turn the Education Center into a reality and enable us to open our doors to the public in February 2014. All donations are tax-deductible. Thank you for your generous support and for helping us reach our goal! Everyone who donates $50 or more will receive a free Story of SAVE THE FROGS! book when they stop by the Education Center, or just ask us to send it to you.
Your donation will enable us to pay for chairs; signage; tables; shelves; a bookshelf; books; a cash register system; cabinets; electronics; stage; a mount for our digital projector; paint for the floor, walls and frog mural; a sofa; carpet; framing materials; live plants; rent and merchandise. In short, everything we need to have a visually pleasing space with all the tools we need to effectively educate people about amphibians!
DONATION TALLY: As of February 3rd, 131 donors have contributed a total of $9,274.
Creating an education center in Berkeley is really exciting, as is my recognizing how fully you continue to be involved in STF. You are a true visionary, and your actions follow your dreams. It is exciting for me to see how global your reach is, and how your passions continue to manifest in new ideas to educate others - a key to success in saving vulnerable species. I just sent a donation via PayPal, and look forward to receiving a copy of "The Story of Save The Frogs!"
Best wishes, Vic Eichler"
