Anybody! We encourage students and teachers to get their writing classes involved on Save The Frogs Day - April 30th, 2010. We encourage amateur and professional writers to take part as well. And the more countries represented the better! Did we mention that it is indeed FREE to enter the contest.
We strongly encourage all contestants to digitally submit their essays, as this saves our unpaid staff considerable time and effort. Whenever possible, teachers should incorporate typing and computer lessons with the Frog Essay Contest, or ask the students to have their parents type up the essay and submit it on the student's behalf.
If you are a teacher, and this is absolutely not possible, please contact us. We may be able to allow you to send a CD of Microsoft Word files.
Paper submissions will NOT be accepted under any condition. Sorry.
We hope to announce a winner by July 2010.
Winners will be announced on this page, and through the SAVE THE FROGS! newsletter, which you should join now if you haven't...it's a great way for us to stay in touch with you about important events and news in the world of frogs!
We actually WANT you to distribute your essay as widely as possible, as one of the goals of the SAVE THE FROGS! Essay Contest is to raise awareness of frog extinctions. School newspapers and local newspapers are excellent places to publish your essay. It would be great to include a note that the essay was part of the SAVE THE FROGS! Essay Contest...and provide a link to savethefrogs.com/essay
Please submit only one essay.
Funny you should ask. We also have a Frog Art Contest, Frog Poetry Contest, Frog Photo Contest, Frog Video Contest, and a Frog Song Contest.
If you have a video camera or webcam, you should record yourself reading your Frog Essay aloud and post it on YouTube.
