Comon River Frog

Comon River Frog

Common River Frog; Afrana angolensis. Found alongside grassland streams and vleis. Can easily jump 2 metres or more into the water when disturbed. It is a 6 cm member of this family, the sharp-nosed grass frog, that actually holds the unofficial world frog jumping record (total for 3 jumps 10.3 metres; Calaveras County). Its performance caused a fracas which resulted in a revision of the competitors qualifications––the frog must now be not less that 4 inches long––thus disqualifying the actual title holder.
