Victories on the Race To Stop Dissections
Dear SAVE THE FROGS! Supporter, Frog dissections are unethical and unnecessary. As excellent digital dissection alternatives exist, SAVE THE FROGS! is working to get frog dissections out of all US public schools by 2014. I am pleased to announce some major progress in this campaign, which we launched only 8 months ago. Please speak to your local teachers and ask them to stop dissecting frogs: it's a simple way to help SAVE THE FROGS!
Nine Schools Drop Their Dissection Programs
Congratulations to these schools who recently accepted our challenge to discontinue all animal dissections in their school (not just frogs!) for a minimum of a 5-year period:
Rancho Verde High School in Moreno, CA
Aviva High School in Los Angeles, CA
Southwestern Academy in San Marino, CA
Woodside School in Woodside, CA
Valley High School in North Hills, CA
Amelia Earhart Middle School in Riverside, CA
Glendale Adventist Elementary in Glendale, CA
The Carleton Project in Presque Isle, ME
Central High School in Los Angeles, CA
Campaign Against Dissections Making Worldwide News
When 10 schools dropped their dissection programs earlier this summer, the story got picked up by the Associated Press and appeared on ABC-7 TV San Francisco, ABC15 TV Phoenix, NBC-8 TV Santa Cruz, ABCnews.com, Time.com, Forbes.com, WashingtonPost.com and in the Riverside Press-Enterprise. Read all these stories here. It's great to be getting this valuable publicity for the frogs, and making people question their long-held (yet flawed!) beliefs.

SAVE THE FROGS! in Chicago O'Hare Int'l Airport
SAVE THE FROGS! Supporter Karen Manasco recently sighted this poster up in Chicago O'Hare...one of the world's busiest airports. In 2009, thanks to ClearChannel, we got free ad space in 5 major airports to highlight the effect of climate change on the world's amphibians as part of the International Day of Climate Action. It's great to see the 6 foot long poster still up! Thanks to all our supporters who helped us pay the printing costs: hundreds of thousands of people have now seen this poster! Congratulations to 10-year old Avalon Theisen, the SAVE THE FROGS! August 2011 Student of the Month. Avalon is doing great things for the frogs. Avalon won our Nate The Newt Amphibian Conservation earlier this year and more recently won Action for Nature's International Eco-Hero Award. Today her efforts were featured on the front page of her local newspaper, helping to educate thousands in her community about the plight of amphibians. Keep up the great work Avalon!
This brand new Postcard Variety Pack is a set of five 4x6" postcards featuring amazing frog images by myself and SAVE THE FROGS! Advisory Committee Member Jason Ayres. Postcards are printed on recycled paper. They look great on your refrigerator and are a fantastic way to spread the word about our work.
