SAVE THE FROGS! featured in today's LA Times
Dear SAVE THE FROGS! Supporter,
SAVE THE FROGS' campaign to stop the importation of several million non-native American Bullfrogs into the state of California each year is getting worldwide attention today thanks to Louis Sahagun's article that appears in today's LA Times. As you may recall, on May 19, 2010 I testified at the California Fish & Game Commission's hearing on this issue, where they voted for the second time to stop issuing permits for the importation of non-native frogs and turtles into the state for use as food. Unfortunately, the California Department of Fish & Game has gone against the Commission's orders, and the Commission has done nothing to correct the problem. SAVE THE FROGS! is working hard to get California Governor Jerry Brown to ban the importation, sale, release and possession of American Bullfrogs in the state, and this article will go a long way toward bringing much-needed recognition to the issue -- and ensuring our success.

Happy Frog That Just Had A Wish Come True

Atrazine & the Northwest Environmental Defense Center
The Northwest Environmental Defense Center -- a group of professors, law students and attorney alumni at Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, OR -- hosted a presentation of mine on amphibian conservation on Earth Day 2009. Last week they submitted an excellent letter to the US EPA as part of EPA's Atrazine Call For Comments period. Thanks to Jenny Loda for initiating getting the NEDC involved with this campaign.

SAVE THE FROGS! and the National Wildlife Federation
A couple weeks ago I spent a couple days in Yosemite National Park, where the National Wildlife Federation (the largest membership-based environmental group in the country) was having its inaugural meeting of their California Advisory Council, of which I am a member. I gave a presentation on frog conservation and the work of SAVE THE FROGS! and made lots of great new connections. SAVE THE FROGS! is proud to have the National Wildlife Federation as an official partner for Save The Frogs Day 2012.

Beautiful spot above Vernal Falls

The first snows arrived the next night.

I had this beautiful waterfall all to myself. One of my environmental heroes is John Muir, a fabulous writer, fearless traveler, and one of America's greatest conservationists. I am sure he spent some time at this waterfall a century prior, and he would be happy it is still unblemished by the hands of man.

Just another huge cliff.

Most of my good frog saving ideas come to me when I'm playing music. Anybody who donates, joins SAVE THE FROGS! or orders merchandise between now and November 30th gets three free mp3s of me playing music for the frogs? The mp3s are downloadable from the Thank You page after your place your order.
