Introduction | Teachers for Frogs
Please be sure to join our mailing list (in this page's left sidebar) so we can keep you informed of upcoming events, important news, and major updates to this page!
Environmental education is an integral part of any student's educational development. Schools must help to instill a love and knowledge of the environment in their students, and this begins at an early age. This page is intended to:
(1) Connect environmentally-minded educators with each other, so that they can exchange ideas on how to most effectively promote environmental education in the school systems, and
(2) Provide relevant curriculum advice, educational packets and videos to show students.
If you have experience in environmental education and would like to help us develop this web page, or produce any of the educational information, please contact us. We are currently working on creating a Teachers Forum so that interested parties can log in to the site and contribute their ideas directly.
We would like students to distribute SAVE THE FROGS! information packets at their schools, raise money for frog conservation, and get other students motivated and involved. If you have advice on how to get SAVE THE FROGS! Chapters set up, please contact us.
Please get your students involved in the SAVE THE FROGS! 1st Annual Frog Art Contest and concurrent (soon to be announced) 1st Annual SAVE THE FROGS! Poetry Contest. We plan to get schools worldwide involved. There will be prizes, and the finest poetry and artwork will be included in the book of Frog Poems & Frog Art that gets published as a result. The book will be distributed worldwide, with all proceeds going to SAVE THE FROGS! amphibian conservation projects.
An excellent way to make young children aware of the environmental issues facing frogs is to introduce them to the threats to frogs, and then have them write frog poems:
The Frog Poem
by Emily Ronald
Southend Primary School
The frog might be slimy and in some spells
But right now it’s living in a frog hell.
Most people hate them and think they’re evil but
I want to save them unlike the French who eat them!!!
A frog might be green or maybe red
But next thing you know they’ll all be dead!
Once upon a time they were bad creatures with their absolutely
Horrible slimy looking features.
Now they’re not so bad and I am glad that there
is not so many superstition filled heads!
Now the poor old frog’s dying and lots of people
are trying to help them on their journey to frog domination!!
I am one of those people so please don’t make
our country a fly filled nation!
Please help the frog and not the fly do you want
flies to rule and frogs to die? NO!!!
So go onto www.savethefrogs.com!!!
We'll be listing here all teachers who help us expand the curriculum on this page, and all teachers who tell us about their successful class projects.
