"I want to make a difference, these wonderful animals won't be around forever unless people act now. I want to be part of that."
- Simon Noble, United Kingdom
Thanks for your interest in helping SAVE THE FROGS! We are dependent on volunteers like you to make our worldwide conservation efforts possible. We are looking for volunteers who are pro-active, motivated, and dedicated. We are only looking for reliable people: if you accept a volunteer position, you are expected to complete any volunteer tasks in a timely manner. Please keep that in mind!
(1) You are responding to a specific job advertisement or call for assistance, or you have professional expertise you would like to offer us.
If this is you, then you are welcome to go straight to the volunteer application form, which takes 10 minutes to complete (if you don't have 10 minutes, you probably don't have much volunteer time to offer either!).
(2) You want to help but are not sure in what respect.
Great, we want your help! But first, be sure you have read our How To Help page, which lists numerous ways you can lessen your own impact on the environment. Now try to figure out what specifically interests you by checking out our Ideas For Volunteers page and more specifically our Job Descriptions page. Now please go through the following list of ways anybody can help, and spend at least four hours implementing some of those actions. When you do fill out the volunteer application form, please tell us what from this list you did. If you don't have time to go through that list, you probably don't have time to volunteer either (in which case we don't have time to train you!). Thanks!
To begin with, everybody should spend a minimum of two hours surfing savethefrogs.com. Educate yourself, familiarize yourself with what SAVE THE FROGS! is all about. The more educated you are, the more effective an advocate you will be both for the frogs and for SAVE THE FROGS!. Here are some other things you can do:
This is the #1 way to keep up to date with what SAVE THE FROGS! is up to, so please sign up now!
Go to our Spread The Word page, and print and post some of the flyers in school or around town.
Send out an email to ten people telling them about frog extinctions and savethefrogs.com. Make it look real, not like a spam letter: include some real information about frog extinctions.
Set www.savethefrogs.com as your email's automated signature.
Print the Save The Frogs Day petition. Fill up at least one page with your friends/coworkers' signatures, then send it to us. This is a fantastic way to spread the word and educate people, and it will help us get Save The Frogs Day legally recognized in your state.
Tell your friends frogs are the most threatened group of animals on the planet and you're trying to raise money for SAVE THE FROGS!. Collect $1 from each of 20 friends. It's only a buck! Carry an envelope around with you. When someone gives you a dollar (or five), put it in the envelope, as it looks more professional. This is a fantastic way to spread the word and raise funds, all at the same time. Don't be shy! Oh yeah, then place a donation.
Contact your local teachers to inform them of Save The Frogs Day, and the Frog Poetry Contest and Frog Art Contest. You can also try the local or state school board (you may have to fight through some beauracracy).
If you are a student, write an article about frog extinctions (mentioning savethefrogs.com!) for your school newspaper. Talk about frog extinctions on your school's radio station.
You may not have suspected it, but if you search the web for FROG LEGS & YOUR STATE or CITY you will likely find restaurants and supermarkets in your community that sell frog legs. Call them up, ask to speak to the manager. Inform them that frogs are disappearing and that the frog legs trade is decimating frog populations. Ask them to discontinue sales. Be pleasant. Inform us of the result. Be sure to collect all contact information of the restaurant and the person(s) with whom you spoke.
Compile a list of schools in your area that dissect frogs. Send us the list. Thanks!
This form should take about 10 minutes to complete.
1- Volunteers must respond to emails in a timely manner.
2- Volunteers must tell us whether they are accepting a task.
3- Volunteers must complete the task they accepted in a timely manner or inform us immediately if they are unable to.
4- Volunteers must track and report their hours.
OK, fill out the application!
After submitting the form, verify that it is now telling you that the data was indeed submitted!. Please send us your resume if you have one.
“The biggest reason I’ve stayed with Dr. Kriger for so long (since 2008!) is his dedication and passion for this cause. I just knew from the beginning that if anyone was going to get the word out there it would be him and I wanted to help!"
